Cocktail Swing is an acoustic trio of experienced and accomplished musicians with Trevor Hyett on mandola and vocals, Thomas Coffey on guitar and vocals and Peter Sellars on violin. We choose our repertoire mostly from the swing era of the ‘30s and ‘40s - think Ellington and Django. Trevor has been playing acoustic music since his teens and was/is self-taught whereas Peter and Thomas know ‘proper’ music and have been taught well…very well. And their performing prowess demonstrates it. Collectively, our approach has energy and verve, with tight arrangements and even a dash of originality. We are likely to offer our own take on Route 66, Minnie The Moocher, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, Brother Can You Spare a Dime and maybe even the Django/Grappelli classics, Nuages and Minor Swing. We like to show off, but mostly we like to entertain.
